2. Quotes and Estimates
Where possible, Wandering EMU will provide a quote or estimate before commencing work.
A quote is a price for the specific work and materials described in the quote.
An estimate is an approximate indication of the expected cost and is not a fixed price.
A quote may need to be revised if:
-
Additional problems are discovered
-
The condition of existing equipment or wiring differs from what was described
-
Additional work is requested
-
Additional parts or materials are required
-
The scope of work changes
-
Access to the equipment or work area is more difficult than reasonably expected
-
The work is affected by circumstances that could not reasonably have been identified before the job began
Where additional work is required, Wandering EMU will communicate the change and, where reasonably practicable, obtain customer approval before proceeding.
3. Troubleshooting and Diagnostic Work
Troubleshooting is a service in its own right.
The purpose of diagnostic work is to identify the cause of a problem. Finding the cause of a fault does not necessarily mean that the cost of repairing or replacing the affected equipment is included in the diagnostic fee or original quote.
For example, an electrical fault may be caused by previous wiring modifications, damaged components, corrosion, incorrect installation, defective equipment or multiple faults.
Wandering EMU will make reasonable efforts to identify the cause of the problem and explain the available options.
A diagnostic fee may still apply even where the underlying problem cannot be repaired during the same visit.
4. Customer Approval
Wandering EMU will seek customer approval before carrying out work that falls outside the agreed scope.
Approval may be provided verbally, in writing, by text message, email or through another reasonable method.
Where immediate action is reasonably necessary to address a safety issue or prevent further damage, Wandering EMU may take reasonable steps to make the equipment safe before obtaining further approval.
5. Existing Equipment, Wiring and Installations
Wandering EMU is not responsible for defects, failures or damage caused by existing equipment, wiring, modifications or installations that were not completed by Wandering EMU.
Existing systems may contain:
-
Incorrect wiring
-
Previous modifications
-
Corrosion
-
Damaged components
-
Poor workmanship
-
Non-compliant installations
-

-
Equipment that has reached the end of its service life
Where these conditions affect the work, additional time, parts or work may be required.
Wandering EMU will advise the customer where reasonably possible.
6. Customer-Supplied Equipment and Parts
Customers may sometimes supply their own equipment or parts.
Wandering EMU will make reasonable efforts to install customer-supplied equipment where it is suitable for the intended application.
However, Wandering EMU does not guarantee the quality, compatibility, condition, performance or longevity of customer-supplied equipment or parts.
If supplied equipment is found to be unsuitable, defective, damaged or incompatible, additional labour or replacement parts may be required.
Any manufacturer's warranty for customer-supplied equipment remains the responsibility of the manufacturer or supplier.
7. Parts and Materials Supplied by Wandering EMU
Where Wandering EMU supplies parts or materials, they will generally be selected based on the requirements of the job and their suitability for the intended application.
Unless otherwise stated, manufacturer warranties apply to supplied products.
Wandering EMU does not provide a manufacturer's warranty in place of the manufacturer's own warranty.
Where a supplied part fails within an applicable manufacturer's warranty period, Wandering EMU will assist with the warranty process where reasonably practicable. Labour associated with removing or replacing a failed part may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty unless specifically agreed.

The customer must advise Wandering EMU of any known hazards or conditions that may affect the safety of the work.
9. Access and Site Conditions
Wandering EMU provides a mobile service and may work at private residences, marinas, campgrounds, storage facilities, worksites or other locations.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the location is reasonably safe and accessible.
Work may be delayed or refused where conditions are considered unsafe or where access is not reasonably possible.
Additional charges may apply where significant additional time or equipment is required because of site conditions that could not reasonably have been anticipated.
10. Marine, RV and Vehicle Work
Customers understand that boats, RVs and vehicles may contain complex systems and components that are interconnected.
Accessing one system may require removal, disconnection or movement of other components.
Wandering EMU will take reasonable care when carrying out work. However, hidden defects, corrosion, brittle materials, previous modifications or deteriorated components may become apparent during the work.
Where reasonably possible, Wandering EMU will advise the customer before proceeding with additional work resulting from these conditions.
11. Safety
Wandering EMU takes safety seriously.
If an existing installation or condition is considered unsafe, Wandering EMU may recommend that it be repaired, isolated or replaced before additional work is completed.
Wandering EMU may refuse to complete work where doing so would create an unreasonable safety risk.
12. Completion of Work
Work will be considered complete when the agreed scope of work has been substantially completed.
Where appropriate, Wandering EMU may test the system or equipment after completing the work.
Testing may be limited by the conditions, equipment, environment or information available at the time.
Completion of a repair or installation does not guarantee that unrelated components or systems will continue to operate without failure.
13. Workmanship
Wandering EMU will perform services with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with applicable requirements relevant to the work being performed.
If you believe there is an issue with workmanship, please contact Wandering EMU as soon as reasonably possible so that the issue can be assessed.
Wandering EMU will be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, correct workmanship issues before another party is engaged to carry out remedial work.
14. Warranty
Unless a different warranty is provided in writing for a specific job, Wandering EMU warrants its workmanship for 6 months from the date the work is completed.
This workmanship warranty does not cover:
-
Customer-supplied parts or equipment

Any warranty is subject to applicable consumer protection laws.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due upon completion of the work.
Wandering EMU may require a deposit or progress payment for larger jobs, special-order parts or projects involving significant material costs.
Accepted payment methods may include those communicated to the customer at the time of booking or invoicing.
The customer is responsible for paying the agreed amount for services and materials supplied.
16. Additional Charges

If you have a concern about work or an invoice, please contact Wandering EMU as soon as possible.
We will make reasonable efforts to understand the issue and work toward a practical resolution.
Customers agree to give Wandering EMU a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, correct an alleged workmanship issue before arranging for another person to carry out corrective work, except where immediate action is reasonably necessary.

Any dispute will be subject to the applicable courts and legal processes of British Columbia.
